Review: Makeup Revolution The ONE foundation in shade 9

Makeup Revolution The ONE foundation is all of this and so much more.

As you all know I have super oily, highly sensitive and acne prone skin. So, I like my foundations to be light and natural looking. While everyone has been going gaga over so many Makeup Revolution makeup products, I could hardly find any detailed review online about this foundation. The fact that people compare it with a lot of high end brands made me want to try it. So, ahead I went and ordered this bad boy which had been lying in my shopping cart for 2 months now.

What does the brand say?

First thing first, you cannot help but notice the vast color selection they have-right from the palest to the darkest shades, you are bound to find a color that would suit your skin tone. They have a total of 16 shades (01 being the palest and 16 being the darkest).
I have a fair complexion with strong yellow undertones. I was eyeing the shade 7 for the longest time and somehow at the last moment better sense prevailed and I ended up ordering the shade number 9. I would advise you to go through the swatches carefully and always compare the darker shades and see if any of those match you better than the one you have selected.

Price: Rs. 760 for 29ml product. This retails for 4 Pounds in UK, so it should have been priced at around Rs. 400 or say Rs. 500, but they have priced it at Rs. 760 which is almost double of what it is available for in UK. I think this defeats the whole purpose of coming out with affordable makeup which this brand is targeting!! Guys if you are listening, kindly work on the price. Although the packaging is really small, but it will last you a long time since a little goes a long way. Also, I am happy that I will be able to finish it up.

Packaging: The product comes in a black and golden cardboard box with the ingredient list and all the other details embossed in golden color. The actually product is in a plain opaque plastic bottle which has a nozzle to dispense the product. The nozzle is covered with a screw-on black cap. The bottle is itself in skin color and has just the brand and product name written in black on one side, while on the other side is pasted the shade number. The packaging and texture is very similar to MAC Face & Body foundation. I find the packaging to be the best for this texture and very fuss free and travel friendly as well.

Texture: The foundation is very runny. It is advised to shake the bottle well before every use. I once forgot to do it and out came very heterogeneous product. When you shake the bottle, you can feel how runny the foundation is!! It is almost as runny as water-OK may be a little less. Be careful while pouring it on your hands as it can run down if you take out too much. Also, it smells a little medicinal to me, although nothing bothersome as the smell doesn’t linger.

Finish: The foundation feels very lightweight and has a very natural satiny finish. I like the fact that this is not overtly matte but very natural. It feels very silky and smooth to apply and is very easy to blend. I use my fingers to apply this as I feel it is the best way to use it. Since it is so easy to work with it is my go-to foundation to use when I am in hurry. It almost feels like nothing on your skin but makes it look so much better in a very natural way. The fact that this is pretty sheer to start with, means one shade can suit quite a lot of skin tones. I need 2 drops on each cheek and 2-3 drops for the rest of the face. It can cling to the dry patches on your face so make sure to exfoliate and moisturize your face before applying it. Oily skin girls can opt for a light moisturizer with this as this is also little moisturising. The dry skinned beauties must moisturize heavily before using this else it would look patchy on them.

The swatch looks so dark but when applied on face this adapts to your natural color.

Coverage: The brand says it is a full coverage foundation; however, I would like to disagree. The foundation has a sheer to medium coverage which can be built up. Even when you layer it up it does not get cakey at all. This is the perfect foundation for the “good skin days”. It does not cover up any acne marks, although it can cover up light blemishes and the redness. You would need a separate concealer, if you would like to conceal the acne marks.

Staying power: It stayed on my very oily skin for a good 5-6 hours outdoors (no AC) without any touch up. I am sure it would do much better in an air conditioned environment. The fact that it did not make my already oily skin oilier is a huge plus for me as most of the foundations end up doing that. When I came back I could see that the foundation had faded but my face still looked fresh and not very oily, but glowy. I dabbed a dry tissue all over my face to soak the excess oil and I looked completely fresh again. Also, it does not oxidise at all.

Final verdict: I highly recommend this. Since, the day I have tried this I am addicted to it and go back to it again & again. It has replaced my much loved Lakme Mousse foundation as this looks more natural and is so much lighter. I want to get this in a darker shade that I can use for contouring as well.

Review: Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse

Hello everyone!! How have you been? I know I have been MIA for some time now. I got sick..! Yes! once again. It was viral this time. I am still recovering...still feel little weak. Anyways, enough of these rants! I attended one big family event in July. My Dad was retiring after serving for 37 years!! It was a big day for all of us, so we celebrated it thoroughly, threw a party which was attended by all our family members and family friends. It feels weird that I would not be coming back to my home in army cantonment! I will miss this place. Having spent 22 yrs of my life here, it was difficult for me to move to Delhi (2 yrs back) and adjust to a new environment. For someone who has always lived in a secure environment with greenery all around, Delhi was a BIG change. It took me a while to get used to the pollution and all those bad things Delhi is famous for but I finally made it my home.

You know how hot and humid July is!! This time it was even worse in Chandigarh. I was constantly sweating and my face would become an oil factory in few minutes. Also, I was meeting my extended family members and all the family friends after 2 long years, so I obviously had to look good. So, I started searching for a good foundation which was easy to work with, which would stay put on my super-oily skin and would not break it out. Also, I needed something that would photograph well. Finding something for my skin type is a task! I researched thoroughly and finally ended up buying Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse. Read on to find out how it fared for me.

Price: 25gm for Rs. 700. The price is decent enough for the quantity provided. You need just a small amount to cover the entire face and neck. 25gm of product will last you a long time even if used regularly.

Packaging: First of all I love the packaging! It is silver+grey and shiny+matt. The product comes in a spherical container. The top half is the cap which is reflective and silver while the bottom half which is matt and grey contains the product. You open the top by un-screwing it and then there is a lid covering the actual product. On opening the lid you will find the mousse.

Texture: The consistency of the foundation is mousse type which spreads very easily. I LOVE how easily it blends into the skin. It literally blends like a dream and just vanishes into the skin making it look radiant and flawless. It settles into matte powdery finish.It has a slippery texture which is due to the presence of silicones. If you are someone who is allergic to silicones you would want to skip this. It has a lemony, cucumber-ish scent which is not bothersome and goes away in few minutes. It is perfect for oily skinned beauties but will work equally well for normal to dry skinned girls with proper moisturizing.

Shades: It comes in 3 shade: Ivory Fair, Beige Honey and Golden Medium (lightest to darkest). I bought the shade 01 Ivory which is a perfect match for my skin tone. When I apply it you can't even tell where I have put the foundation and where is my bare skin. Of course the area with foundation looks more radiant and flawless but it looks very natural. I LOVE IT. This shade would suite girls with paler complexion with yellow undertones.

Coverage: It has light to medium coverage. It will work amazingly for those who have relatively clearer skin as it will be able to cover up light blemishes or marks. But if you are looking for something which is full coverage and which can cover heavy acne marks then it will not work for you. The finish is very natural and feels like skin. It lets your skin peek through the layer of foundation and gives a very naturally flawless look. Also, it photographs really well in day light as well as in flash. It has an SPF of 8 and hence there is no problem of that ghastly white cast that the high SPF foundations give with flash photography.

Staying Power: I applied this at 6:00pm in the evening and the function winded up at around 1:00am and I was still looking fresh. In these 7 hours I danced a lot and was sweating profusely while dancing. But it still did not completely vanish. Obviously my face wasn’t as fresh as it was when I had just applied the foundation but it was still pretty good.

Final Verdict: If you are looking for a long staying, easy to use, pocket friendly foundation which photographs well then this is THE product. I don’t use makeup on regular basis but this is going to be my go-to foundation for all the important occasions until I am able to find anything better (which is going to be pretty difficult).

Shopping spree

I know I am writing after a long time…but then I was really busy. Anyways I went shopping yesterday and bought a few things.

1)   l’oreal paris smooth intense shampoo  & conditioner

        What it says: Is your hair dry, difficult to smooth or unmanageable? Does your hair absorb humidity causing your hair to look unruly? For these specific needs, the l’oreal laboratories have developed SMOOTH INTENSE smoothing shampoo   

INGREDIENTS:

My view: Well I have used this shampoo before as well and I am quite happy with it, but never used it with the conditioner.  It does help you with the frizziness to some extent. This is my HG product.I will have to use it and only then will I be able to comment on the conditioner. But I am quite optimistic about it.

   2) lotus pure radiance foundation

 

What it says:

 

I bought it day before yesterday and today morning I saw a lot of          bloggers blogging about it. I bought it in “ 360  soft beige (L)”. Since I have combination skin I don’t prefer foundations. But it said matte glow & oil- free. These 2 words forced me to try this foundation. Moreover it has SPF 20. I will soon try and review it.

3)    lotus herbals neem face wash:

        What it says:

 

   My view: I have used it only twice so can’t say much about it. I bought  it coz it says that it helps control pimples.

What I liked about it is the fact that it doesn’t dry out your skin. Its fragrance reminds me of the keshnikhaar soap. ;)

4)    olay total effects foaming cleanser:

 

    

        What it says:

        My view: Although I swear by the “cipla saslic facewash” which is  a      cleanser. It does wonders for my skin, specially in removing blackheads  completely. But when I went to this shop the SA very

cleverly convinced me to buy this cleanser cum facewash cum toner. You just need to moisturize after it.

I have used it only once. What I noticed is that it dried out my skin. So it’s definitely not good for dry- skinned people. Can’t say more coz I haven’t used it much. Will review soon.

        Price: may be rs. 125. I got it for rs. 90 as there is a rs 26 off offer + the  whole sale discount… :D :D

What it says: 7-in-1 anti ageing cream with SPF 15.

6)    tejus anti wrinkle & anti marks cream: 

What it says: 

 

It claims to work as an anti wrinkle cream and also removes marks. I have been using it since a week. May be it does work. Not sure. I have got some acne marks. But lately I have been taking a lot of care of my skin. So don’t know if it’s the cream or other things that are working.

But it does smell nice.
