DIY Natural & Organic Aloe Vera Serum

Hey beautiful people!!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

It is getting really HOT in here in Delhi. Literally "hot as hell" ! I don't feel like going out anywhere and end up spending my weekends at home. Let me know what you guys have been upto?

So, I have uploaded a new video on my Youtube channel where I have shown step-by-step tutorial of how you can make ORGANIC & NATURAL aloe vera serum/gel at home. It is free of any chemical or preservative. Hence, it has a shelf life of about 7 days and then you would need to make a fresh batch.

But it is very easy to make and is suitable for every skin type. Just make sure you follow the steps I have mentioned in the tutorial. I use this several times a day after washing my face and even if after sitting in AC for long hours my skin feels a little dehydrated I just slather this on to my face. You can use it as a moisturizer, as a face mask, apply it on your hair directly or mix it in hair packs. Make sure to store this in fridge to keep it fresh for longer.

So here is the video.

I am sure you have must have heard about Michael Todd’s products. If not then you are literally living under a rock. Michael Todd is specially known for the famous Soniclear brushes which are similar to the clarisonic ones. They also have a wide variety of ORGANIC skin care products aimed at different skin types and concerns.

A little about the brand: The brand was founded by Lewis Hendler.
"MICHAEL TODD TRUE ORGANICS was built out of respect, for quality craftsmanship, a love of things organic and most of all the desire to make caring for your skin an experience to look forward to.

We also use as much organics as possible - usually 70%-95%. But organic ingredients need to be combined with other actives to be really effective. The key is finding the right blend of organic ingredients and effective, powerful anti-aging and blemish healing ingredients to achieve a truly great product.

All the Michael Todd products:
*Are made in USA
*Are made with organic ingredients
*Contain NO added water
*Contain NO parabens or triclosan, phthalates or sulfates
*Contain NO mineral oil, artificial color or synthetic fragrance

http://www.michaeltoddtrueorganics.com/

Price: $23(Rs. 1380 approximately) for 210ml or 7.1fl oz. This sounds expensive but 1 bottle will easily last you 3 months or even more so it would cost you around Rs450 per month which is not very cheap but still affordable. They keep coming up with various offers where you can get the products on discount. So, keep checking out the site for the same.

Where To Buy: You can buy it from https://www.michaeltoddtrueorganics.com or from http://www.amazon.com/
The https://www.michaeltoddtrueorganics.com charge an international shipping of $14.95. They ship through USPS and accept online payment through debit/credit card and Paypal.

Ingredients: Look at that ingredient list!! Isn't it IMPRESSIVE?

What does the website say about the Michael Todd true organics CHARCOAL DETOX deep pore gel cleanser?
“This unique cleanser utilizes the properties of Activated Charcoal in a base of organic aloe vera to neutralize acidity and absorb impurities while sugar cane and maple provide gentle exfoliation for increased cellular turnover. Amazingly absorbent, Activated Charcoal is widely known for its ability to effectively cleanse the skin, unclog pores and remove deeper impurities and dead skin cells.
Beneficial for all skin types, powerful antioxidants and tea tree and other essential oils provide effective anti-aging and blemish healing properties, including treatment of acne, rosacea and eczema.

Sulfate free "no tears" formula does not irritate eyes.”

Packaging: Michael Todd true organics CHARCOAL DETOX deep pore gel cleanser comes in a lavender and purple packaging with a pump dispenser. The bottle is made of good quality plastic and is sturdy. The bottle contains all the necessary information like ingredients, expiry date, directions etc. You can easily carry this in your purse without the fear of this spilling inside your bag, since the pump is tight enough not to leak the product out.

Scent: To me it smells like eucalyptus or tea tree oil. I find the scent to be very refreshing, though people with very sensitive nose might not like it.

Texture: Michael Todd true organics CHARCOAL DETOX deep pore gel cleanser, as the name suggests, is a gel cleanser with very minute charcoal particles. The gel is transparent with lots of grey charcoal particles which make the product look black.

My View: I was sent Michael Todd true organics CHARCOAL DETOX deep pore gel cleanser. It is specially formulated for oily and acne prone skin. This is a blessing in disguise for me since my skin type is just what it is made for.

Like I said I have oily and acne prone skin and I have been using the same cleanser since the past 2 years.-the one prescribed by my dermatologist. Let me repeat again, there are very few skin care products which suit my skin and most of them break me out. Ofcourse, I was sceptical about using Michael Todd true organics CHARCOAL DETOX deep pore gel cleanser thinking it would do the same. But pleasantly it did not.

This is a very mild cleanser in the sense that it doesn’t dry out my skin and maintains its pH balance while controlling the excess oil production and taking care of the acne YET highly effective at removing makeup. Yes, I have tried cleaning an entire face of makeup using just this and it removed every last trace of makeup on my face. It is even effective in removing the eye makeup and doesn’t irritate the eyes at all even if it accidentally goes into your eyes, which BTW happens a lot with me.

It lathers pretty well and the foam feels creamy and luxurious. I take 1 pump into my palms and activate the product by rubbing my hands. Then I apply the Michael Todd true organics CHARCOAL DETOX deep pore gel cleanser all over my moist face in gentle circular motions, concentrating more on the problem areas. I rinse it out with lukewarm water. This cleanser is easy to remove and doesn’t leave any residue behind. My skin feels clean, soft and supple after using this.

Although, it is formulated for oily skinned beauties but I am very sure that this will be equally effective for the girls with dry skin as it is VERY mild.

Over the course of last 1 month, I have been using this every day, 2 times a day (morning and evening) and it has definitely taken care of the oil and acne without stripping off the moisture from my skin. And I have used up just 1/4th of the product. This will surely last me 2 more months.

Final Verdict: If you have dry or oily skin with acne issues, then you must give this a try. It is organic and very mild and highly effective..all at the same time. This is the best combination ever! The only issue is the cost and availability. It would cost you around Rs.460 per month which may not be very cheap but is still affordable. Moreover, this acts as a cleanser and a makeup remover, so you don’t have to invest in one separately.
I know people who have problematic skin (like I do), always look out for products which don’t just claim to do things but actually do it. And Michael Todd true organics CHARCOAL DETOX deep pore gel cleanser is one such product.

Rating: 4/5 (I have deducted 1 point for the price and not being easily available.)

PS: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Oilcraft Naturals Premium Panch-Pushp Water, Steam Distilled Review

I don’t have a skin care routine, never had any. I am just a face wash girl and have been using the same since the past 2 years. When you have sensitive and acne prone skin, you have no other option but to stick to what your Dermatologist prescribes. But since the past few weeks, my skin had been looking dull and tired- like it looks dead when you get badly tanned. It looked dehydrated and really bad to look at. Since, I haven’t been using any moisturizer for a while, just those anti-acne treatments...they had dried out my skin badly. Winter season makes it even worse. All of this had taken a toll on my skin. So, I thought of getting something for my skin that would hydrate it and not break me out.

I wanted to try something natural, something organic, something that wouldn’t break me out. While browsing various websites, I came across Oilcraft Naturals Premium Panch-Pushp water. The description sounded so heavenly. But a distilled water for 400 bucks?! Will it be worth it? What can just water do to my skin? I asked myself. With my fair share of doubts, I clicked on the checkout button.

About the Brand: "Oilcraft Naturals is a labor of love which blends ancient traditions of aromatherapy with a modern approach to well-being. The parent company being more than a century old, we have a sound production base and a direct marketing strategy to cater to everyone who may be interested in essential/aroma oils, natural distillates (like rose water), blends and natural Indian fragrances or 'attars'. Our client list includes several prestigious names, both organizations as well as individuals in India as well as overseas."

It is an Indian brand which uses all natural ingredients and does not test on animals. Oilcraft Naturals uses the best quality roses from Kannauj, UP- the ittar city which is famous for its roses and rose water apart from ittar. They are said to be the suppliers to Kama Ayurveda. If you had been eyeing some the KA products but couldn’t convince yourself to spending a bomb, then you would love to read ahead.

http://www.oilcraftnaturals.com/

Price: Rs.400 for 200ml

Packaging: I absolutely love the packaging. It is minimalistic and sophisticated. I love how simple yet how functional they have kept the whole thing. The bottle is made of plastic and is not heavy at all. The material doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy and is travel friendly. It comes with a spray mechanism and has a plastic cap to cover the pump. Since the bottle is transparent, you can easily see how much product is left.

My View: Panch-pushp means 5 flowers. This is a steam distilled water of 5 different flowers: rose, Kewra, mogra, saffron and marigold. It smells heavenly!! You can primarily smell kewra with a hint of rose. The fragrance is absolutely divine! The color of the water is pale yellow which is due to the presence of saffron and marigold. It doesn’t contain any added color or fragrance or any kind of preservative.

Let’s talk about the benefits of these 5 flowers. As stated by Oilcraft Naturals:
1. Rose helps in toning
2. Kewra helps in cooling and softening
3. Saffron is for healing
4. Marigold is for cleansing
5. Mogra provides hydration

This is a multi-purpose product. You can use it as a toner, a moisturizer, as a makeup setting spray. They have even suggested using as a body mist or air freshener which I think is not possible as the fragrance doesn’t really linger that long. I use it after face wash as a moisturizer. Now, it isn’t a moisturizer, per se, so don’t expect it to give you a heavy dose of moisture. My skin gets very oily in summers and is combination to normal in winters. I use a mild face wash and follow up with Oilcraft Naturals Premium Panch-Pushp water. It calms down my senses, soothes my skin and refreshes me. I then let my skin absorb all its goodness. Sometimes, I spritz it directly onto my face and sometimes I spray some on my palms and then pat and massage it onto my face. Either way it works fine. Since, I have combination skin, the natural oils come onto the face after a while and my skin doesn’t feel stretchy or dry. If it does, I spray it again and that dry feeling is taken care of.

As soon as I spray it on my face, I can see the difference. It instantly brightens my skin and makes it look healthier, hydrated, fresh and glowy. If you have drier skin, I would suggest you to use it with glycerine. It makes an excellent natural moisturiser. Since, I have sensitive skin and glycerine breaks me out, I stopped using it. It worked well for my sister though.
I also use it as a setting spray after applying my base. It makes the makeup look much more natural and dewy.

Final Verdict: Overall, Oilcraft Naturals Premium Panch-Pushp water has made a remarkable difference to my skin in a short span of time and I am sure it would continue to do so. I see myself using it even more during summers. Not only has it helped my dehydrated skin but has made it look fresh and bright. It has definitely changed my thoughts about toners, which I used to believe do anything. But this one is an exception and I will keep re-purchasing it till I find something better. It might look a little expensive as compared to other drugstore toners, but it will last you a loooong time and is all natural. I would HIGHLY recommend this product as it is free of all the chemicals and it actually works.

Review: Oriflame Tender Care Blackcurrant Protecting Balm

I was gone for almost 2 weeks now as I was busy visiting my family in Chandigarh, then they came back with me to Delhi for Diwali. And if you follow me on Instagram you must be knowing that Max (my dog) got sick. All this kept me really busy. And now when Diwali is over and Max is also doing well, I finally got back to my beloved blog. I had ordered few Oriflame products sometime back. This was the first time I was using anything from this brand. After using them for almost a month I am ready to share my views on them. Today I will be talking about Oriflame Tender Care Blackcurrant Protecting Balm.

Price: Rs. 249.00 for 15ml

Ingredients: petrolatum, caprylic/capric triglyceride, paraffinum liquidum, cera alba, paraffin, acetylated lanolin, cetyl alcohol, parfum, tocopheryl, acetate, glyceryl caprylate

Packaging: The packaging is purple in color since this is in blackcurrant flavor. The actual product comes in tiny little purple tub (with gold detailing) with a screw-on cap. The tub with the narrow mouth comes in a similar colored cardboard box which has all the required details. I prefer tubs to tubes anyday! Yes I know you will say it is unhygienic and what not but it is also very convenient. Especially when the product is about to get over, I hate putting all my efforts in squeezing the tube to get a teeny weeny amount out, even though the tube still has good amount of product in there. Tub packaging ensures that I use up every last bit. Though a bullet packaging would have been PURRFECT!

Scent: I had once used a lipbalm which had a very artificial scent that always gave me headache. The first time I sniffed Oriflame Tender Care Blackcurrant Protecting Balm, it reminded me of that. I was instantly put off!! However, slowly and steadily this scent grew on me and I quite like it now. It smells of blackcurrant and is neither very mild nor very strong, though people with sensitive nose might not like this. Every time I apply this, everyone in the room knows that I have put it on. The scent lingers on and you can smell it even after hours of application.

Texture: The balm is white in color and is neither very thick nor very light. I find the consistency to be perfect. It spreads easily and has a buttery feel to it.

My view: This is not just a lip balm but THE BALM. You can use it on your eyes, corners of the mouth, elbows..basically any dry area of the body. I absolutely love to use it on my under eye area every night before I retire for the day. It moisturizes the delicate area very well. Since it has the perfect consistency, there is no issue of tugging the under eye to spread it or it running down to the cheeks as it is not runny. Since it is not very heavy, I sometimes use it in during the day as well.

As a hand cream its performance is pretty average. I personally prefer something heavier for my hands.

For lips, I again find this to be an average product. It doesn't really work for very dry or chapped lips. When I had bought it I was having very dry lips and it did nothing to moisturize them. I would put the balm on and within 30 mins I felt like re-applying it. It felt like the more I was using it on my lips, drier they were getting. I then stopped using it and went back to my trusty method (which I will talk about some other time). Then after a week or so when my lips had got better, I again started using it. This time I actually liked it and felt that it kept my lips soft for a good 3-4 hours. Also, I like to use it beneath my lipsticks since it is not a heavy duty balm.

Final verdict: It is a decent every day balm which works great for under eyes, but if you have very dry and chapped lips or if you are looking for a highly moisturizing balm for the lips for winters then this is not the product for you.

Review: Premier Dead Beautifying Nail Kit (Luxury) and Premier Dead Sea Concentrated Facial Serum with vitamins E & C

Premier Beautifying Nail Kit

What’s the first thing you notice when you meet someone? His/her face, right? What’s the next thing that you notice? It has to be the HANDS. Your hands and feet say alot about your hygiene. If you have dirty nails, chipped nail paint it looks gross at the same time if you have well groomed hands and feet then it adds up to your personality. And no you don’t have to visit a parlour everytime for getting your nails done or for a manicure/ pedicure session. You just need a do-at-home kit which you can use in the comfort of your home, watching TV, sipping your favourite drink. I personally don’t like visiting parlours regularly. I am too lazy for that. I just go there for my routine threading of the eyebrows and nothing else. So, for someone like me these kinds of kits are a great investment.

I recently got to try Premier by Dead Sea Premier’s Beautifying Nail Kit-Luxury collection. Read on to know if it is worth it or not.

About the Brand: The Dead Sea Premier Cosmetics Laboratories was established in 1990 in Israel and is part of Hadan Group, which has been specializing in cosmetics since 1979. The Dead Sea Premier Cosmetics Laboratories is a major manufacturer of high quality Dead Sea cosmetic products. Their line consists of over 150 items, which complete a full unique range of high quality skin care products, hair and body care, toiletries and cosmetics, exported to over 62 different countries.

Dead Sea Premier was awarded the title and seal "Guardians of the environment"
- Environment friendly manufacturing plant.
- Recyclable packaging.
- All ingredients are ozone friendly.
- No animal testing or animal derivatives.

You can visit them on: http://www.premierdeadsea.co.in/
http://www.premier-deadsea.com/

The kit comes in a square cardboard box and is priced at Rs. 2,500.00 and $59.99. The cover mentions everything about the products. It contains 4 pieces:

1. Buffing block:
It is unlike any other buffer I have used till date. It is cuboid in shape. One side of the buff has the name of the brand written along with the steps as to how to use it. The other 3 sides are blue, grey and white in colour and each side has a specific use to it. You have to first use the blue side in back and forth motion for 2-3 seconds. This helps in removing the lines, ridges and the rough texture of the nail. Next use the grey side and buff each nail for 2-3 seconds. This will remove all the remaining ridges and will stimulate blood circulation under the nails, thus encouraging healthy and strong growth. Finally, use the white side. This side is made of silk and gives the nails a glossy shine which doesn’t come off.

When I used the blue and grey sides, they evened out the rough texture of my nails and mattified them. The white side is what really surprised me. I mean, I have used buffs before but this white side makes this one really unique. As soon as I buffed my nails with it my nails were shining as if I had applied a coat of some transparent nail paint. It was a pearly shine. I was amazed. This really made my nails look super healthy. This is my favourite product in the kit.

One more thing, this shine doesn’t go away!! It stays on for days! The nails may not stay as shiny as they become immediately after buffing with the white side but they still retain the shine.

2. Nail file: To smooth away the rough nail edges and shaping the nails, use this file. It can be used from both sides and is quite easy to work with. I find it is not as hard as a metallic filer which is a good thing.

3. Mineral rich cuticle oil: it is used for softening and conditioning the cuticles, thereby, ensuring good nail growth. This has a runny consistency. It comes in a sleek tube with a nozzle. You don’t even need to press the tube, just tilt it and a small quantity of oil comes out. For this oil, little goes a long way. So you need just 2-3 drops of oil for your one hand.

4. Hand and body cream: This is my 2nd favourite product after the amazing buffer. It has the perfect consistency- neither too runny nor too thick. It spreads easily and is decently moisturizing. Since it has the consistency of a lotion- probably little thicker than that, it is not heavily moisturizing but just the right amount. If you are someone who has extremely dry skin then this may not work for you.

I LOVE its fragrance. It is warm, sweet, vanilla-ish, butterscotch-ish. It smells divine! I keep sniffing myself after applying this. I smell like a cup cake whenever I use it :D. The scent stays on for about 6 hours which is amazing!! Totally love this product.

Overall I love this kit. It makes my nails so healthy, smooth and shiny and the shine stays on for days! It is easy to use and highly effective. I would definitely repurchase it and would recommend it to all of you. The products are available on leading e-commerce websites.

Take a look at the after and before pictures. These do not do justice to the shine this kit has brought to my nails.

Premier Concentrated Facial Serum with vitamins E & C

Product Description: Premier Concentrated Facial Serum with vitamins E & C provides an invisible silky veil of support for the skin by employing a revolutionary triple lifting mechanism. It lifts the skin and keeps it taut, it tightens skin immediately upon application and it lavishes the skin with vital nourishment.

Application: Before application, cleanse your face. Apply a desired amount into the palms of both hands and massage into the skin with upward strokes. Use daily in the morning and evening. A moisture cream may be applied on top after the serum has been absorbed into the skin.

Price: $199.99 for 1.7 Oz or Rs. 12,200 for 50ml.

Packaging: The product is housed in a gold+ rose gold cuboid cardboard box. The box has the company name and logo inscribed on one side and the application and benefits on the other. On opening the box you will find the product safely packed inside a black plastic case which is cut in the shape of the bottle and holds it tightly.
The bottle is made up of frosted glass which is makes it quite heavy and is green in color. I find the shape of the bottle very feminine. The name and logo of the company is inscribed in golden color on the bottle. It has a pump dispenser which makes it very convenient and hygienic to use the product. I find the packaging very luxurious and classy.

Even after being made up of glass, I find it travel friendly as the pump is quite tight and won't leak any product. Also, my sister accidentally dropped the bottle on the floor but it still did not break :D :D. Hats off! Although I would prefer to carry this in the cardboard box that it came in.

Ingredients: cyclomethicone, dimethiconol, octyl cocoate, soybean(glycine soja) oil, retinol(vit A), dead sea mineral salt (mar sal), ascorbic acid(vit C), tocopherol(vit E), citrus aurantium(orange) oil.

Texture/Consistency: The serum has a gel like consistency which is slightly runny and has a mild citrus-y fragrance which goes away within seconds after application. One needs just a tiny drop (not even half pump) of the serum to cover the entire face and another drop for the neck area.

When I first applied it on my face it felt a little thick and oily but after massaging it for few seconds it completely vanished without leaving behind any kind of shine. My skin literally drank it up!

I really like how it sinks into my skin as I have super-oily skin and rarely any moisturizer works for me. But this doesn’t make me feel greasy or oily. You can’t even tell if I have applied anything or not. It makes my skin look plump and hydrated from within. My skin felt visibly radiant, brighter and smoother instantly after application.

As for the claims regarding diminishing lines and wrinkles, I can’t comment on them as I still don’t have that problem. But I will ask my mother to use it for a while and will update you on that.

The quantity provided and the amount you need for 1 application, I am sure this will last me at least next 6 months.

Final Verdict: I quite like this serum and will continue using it as a part of my skin care routine. It will work for any skin type, just that the oily beauties will need just a small amount while the dry skinned beauties will need to use a little more. It is pretty expensive though. Other than it will be perfect for everyone, especially in hot and humid Indian summers. I highly recommend this product. If you can get your hands on this then go and just grab it. It is available at most leading e-commerce websites.

PS: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Review: Ponds age Miracle Cell ReGEN Day Cream SPF 15 PA++

Hello you pretty girls!!! How have you been? Well my work has been keeping me extremely busy, so did not get the chance to post on my blog.

Anyways today I will be reviewing an anti-ageing product. I am in my early twenties and frankly speaking I am not that much into anti-ageing products. Um.. actually I don’t use any such anti wrinkle or anti ageing product. But that was until recently.

Price: Rs. 99 for 10gm tub

One fine day my mommy dearest bought Ponds age Miracle Cell ReGEN Day CreamSPF 15 PA++ (phew..!!!). I have superrrr oily skin which goes combination to dry in winters. But that does not mean that I can slather any cream on my face. My super duper sensitive skin NEVER EVER allows me to experiment with my skin care :/. How could I take a chance??!! So, I kept it aside and forgot about it.

Then one day, my dry lids were screaming for moisture and I could not find my favorite lotion anywhere. That particular moment my eyes fell on this cute little teeny tiny tub of Ponds age Miracle Cell ReGEN Day Cream SPF 15 PA++ and I thought I should give it a try. After all eyes don’t have any oil glands, so it won’t break me out :D :D Let me tell you that although I have super oily facial skin but my lids are dry. Still I don’t prefer using rich creams around my eyes as those creams/oils can travel down my cheeks and give me pimples. Yup, that’s what happened when I tried using some heavy oils for my under eye area.

So, coming back to the product in question- Ponds age Miracle Cell ReGEN Day Cream SPF 15 PA++ comes in a small white colored tub with a red cap. The cream is quite thick and has light pink color. It smells sweet, nothing bothersome and the fragrance lasts for a while after which you really can’t smell it.

It really is a wonderful wonderful product (can’t stress enough!!). Though it is very thick, but it does not make my under eye area greasy/oily. It gets absorbed pretty easily. Also, since it is pink in color it makes the area around my eyes BRIGHT. I can use it under my primers as well. Also, it contains SPF which is an added advantage.

Since I don’t use it for my face, I found one more way of using this wonderful product- using it as my lip cream. It does a great job on that department as well.

I don’t know how it will fare on the facial skin but as an under eye cream this is definitely a HIT for me. I am going to re-purchase it for sure.
